Founded in 1968 as a metal manufacturing company, Poongsan Corporation entered the defense industry in 1973. Since then, the company has been producing and supplying most of the ammunition used by the South Korean military, ranging from small-caliber to large-caliber ammunition. Poongsan is a globally recognized comprehensive ammunition manufacturer, with 30% of its sales revenue coming from exports.

Leveraging its production technology for copper and copper alloy products, the fundamental materials for ammunition, Poongsan has actively participated in the defense industry. It operates large-scale dedicated production lines at its Angang and Busan plants, developing and supplying all types of ammunition used by the military, from 5.56mm small-caliber rounds to 155mm howitzer shells.
